Crispy Fried Oriental Chicken Wings – Good morning friends ! Hope you all have a great start to a beautiful weekend.
Here’s a very easy chicken recipe, a perfect side dish for elaborate weekend meals ! Though I make it often at my home, the picture that I am sharing is of the time when I intially made it in 2020.
So here we go :
Take 500 gms of washed chicken wings & marinate them with 3 minced garlic cloves, 1/4 tsp chinese five spice, 1/2 tsp of black pepper , 1/2 of granulated sugar & salt to taste.Marinate overnight if possible else at least an hour.
Once marinated, its time to make the batter.
To 50 gms of cornflour, add 1 egg white, a pinch of salt, a pinch of black pepper & some black sesame seeds. Now make the batter using cold water. Add marinated chicken to the batter & mix well. Now heat enough oil in large pot for frying & deep fry the wings over medium flame for 7-8 minutes so that they are fully done.Enjoy with any oriental style dip or sauce.
Chinese five spice is a mix of strong spices used for roasting meats, in stir fry marinades, in stocks & stews; (the must four spices being, cinnamon (1 part), fennel seeds ( 2 parts ), cloves (1/3 part) & star anise ( 1 part) ), (the fifth spice can be 1 part of either sichuan peppercorns or white pepper or sand ginger powder ) .So you can make your own five spice ( by dry roasting the above mentioned spices & blending them to a paste upon cooling) or you can buy from the store.
